Sunami is the third vegan restaurant under the Ooh Cha Cha Natural Food brand. We were commissioned to renovate and design a two-and-a-half-story standalone building on Taipei's Civic Boulevard, creating a mid-sized bistro with an upgraded design and positioning.
To further translate vegan cuisine, we began our thinking from the perspectives of "intuition, rawness, and nature," focusing our spatial strategy on two key elements: light and materials. A fabric light fixture graces the entrance ceiling. Once inside the main space, layers of light illuminate the hidden and mysterious tables, creating a stage for the sense of taste. Throughout the space, expanses of wood-grained walls and small brick paving create a communication interface layered with raw materials. "Sunami" itself is a homophone of "tsunami," meaning tsunami. The space's color palette incorporates deep blue, symbolizing the tide, and green, symbolizing the island. These bands of color flow through the space, more concretely connecting the diverse local customs and flavors that Sunami's cuisine aims to convey. The second floor utilizes the inherent floor level differences to create a sense of privacy between sunken areas. Part of the circular seating area is accented with planting, creating a secluded and relaxing dining atmosphere framed by tree shadows.
Food is rooted in local customs. The building's exterior is painted in earthy tones, connecting to the earth. The expansive entrance staircase invites diners into a raw and dynamic culinary experience.
『Sunami 蔬納米』為『Ooh Cha Cha自然食』品牌的第三個純蔬食餐廳，我們受委託在位於台北市民大道上-高兩層半的獨棟建物進行空間改造與設計，為他們設計一間不論型態跟定位上更為升級的中型餐酒館。
進一步轉譯純蔬飲食，我們從『直覺、原始、自然』開始思考，空間策略分成『光線』和『材料』兩件事切入。入口天花以布面光裝置引入，踏入主空間後運用層層光線，點亮一座座隱晦而具神秘感桌席，像是構建了一處以味覺為主體的舞台。環顧空間則是大面積木紋牆體跟小磚鋪面，堆疊出以原始材料為肌理的溝通界面。
『Sunami』本身即『tsunami海嘯』諧音，因此空間色彩帶入象徵海潮的深藍、海島的綠，帶狀的色彩經過於空間中，更具象的連結Sunami的料理中所希望傳遞的多重風土與味覺想像。二樓空間運用本身樓地板斷差，將下沉的區域做出區域間隱密感，部分環形座位區搭配植栽裝置，以此樹影環繞營造隱密而輕鬆的用餐氛圍。
飲食由風土而起，建築物外觀刷以土色連結大地，開闊的入口梯面邀請食客走進這場原始且富有張力的味覺體驗。
