我們所在的世界知識體系中大致可以區分為物質與抽象兩大類,身體作為抽象感受世界的工具,將抽象的感知轉化為具體的物質以便傳遞與溝通,這物質包含了文字、聲音、材料。但我們很難去定義身體是屬於我們知識系統中的哪一個分類。建築創作的出發,是由心靈感知層面過渡到理性物質的構築,追求挪動既有的架構與感知層面間的平衡與精準度。我喜歡稻田中搖曳的稻穗、海岸邊輕輕拍打的海浪、陽明山上被風拂過的芒草或天空中飄蕩的風箏,這是一種沒有邏輯的喜歡,因此我無法以一種具邏輯的方法驗證它的存在。透過鐵絲、鋁管、長尾夾、束線帶、紙膠帶等樸素的材料重複做著一座一座的高塔,透過這個難以定義自己的身體與物質接觸,許多元素開始出現,自然、樸素、晃動、模糊、彈性、單元、輕盈與空中流動的線條。試想從零件單元至物件,從物件如何成為介入空間的狀態,而這樣的空間狀態是否有機會成為一種建築的可能?
Our world knowledge system can be divided into two categories: the material and the abstract. The body, as the tool that perceives the outer world abstractly, transforms the non-representational perceptions into material substances for the purpose of transmission and communication. The material substances appear in the form of words, sounds, and stuffs. However, it is difficult to identify which category of the world knowledge system the body belongs to. The transition from the spiritual level of perception to the rational construction of a material world is placed at the beginning of architectural creation, which tends to disturb the accuracy and the parallel between existing structures and perceptions. I cannot give a logical explanation for the reasons why I like the rice grains shaking in the wind, the sea wave touching shore, the ornamental grass blown by wind in Yangming Mountain, and the kite flying in the sky, so neither can I attest to the existence of these experiences in a logical sense. I build up many towers, one after another, which are made of steel wires, aluminum tubes, foldback clip, cable ties, and paper tapes. The undefinable body in contact with the material world brings out many elements that are simple, vibrating, vague, elastic and slim lines floating in the air.
